Donation Guidelines

We’d love to take every item you have, however, we have insurance requirements and need to check for product recalls.

We only take items that :

  • are clean and in good usable condition
  • include at least one working battery and charger (for battery-powered tools)
  • are a known brand – this will enable us to do product safety searches and also find a manual (if not donated with the item)
  • are able to fit in a car (for members to transport)

We also appreciate consumable materials that may be needed for any of the items (eg sanding belts, nails for nail guns, screws etc.)

Sorry, we cannot accept:

  • petrol powered items
  • electrical items more than 5 years old, broken or poor quality equipment
  • equipment with missing parts
  • high-risk tools like chainsaws or angle grinders or anything that requires a safety guard
  • tools with foreign power plugs
  • liquids, adhesives, caulks, paint
  • child restraint seats, cots, baby baths, travelling cots etc
  • senior’s aids/hospital/medical equipment and items such as crutches, walking sticks, walkers etc.
  • household appliances that are used very regularly such as kettles, sandwich makers, crockery or cutlery
  • sleeping bags
  • Trestle tables that do not fold

To consider if a tool is good for donation, please ask yourself:
1. Would someone want to borrow this item only for a short period of time?
2. Is the item in good/excellent condition?
3. Would you lend this to your neighbour or family?

Please note: we can’t take every item and reserve the right to turn away, redistribute, or sell anything we can’t use, easily repair or store easily. We may also move items between branches.
