We all know the recycling basics: bottles, cans, cardboard and paper go in the yellow bin. Easy enough.

But what about blister packs, beauty product packaging, toothpaste tubes and soft plastics? These are the things that often leave us scratching our heads. “Can this actually be recycled? And if so, where does it go?”

At our Lane Cove branch, we’re making it a little easier.

Alongside The Sydney Library of Things and Lane Cove Toy Library, our Lane Cove space has collection points for a range of hard-to-recycle items that aren’t accepted in your usual kerbside recycling bin.

Next time you’re visiting, bring along those odds and ends you’ve been saving because you weren’t sure what to do with them. You’ll find clearly labelled collection bins when you come in, including options for things such as blister packs, beauty and oral-care packaging and other specialist recyclables.

It’s a small thing, but collectively these little changes can make a big difference – keeping useful materials out of landfill and helping us all become better at reducing waste. And, of course, there’s another way to reduce waste before you even get to the recycling bin: **borrow instead of buy!**

Come and visit us at Lane Cove, drop off your tricky recyclables, browse the Library of Things and see what you could borrow for your next project, party or weekend adventure.

Reduce. Reuse. Repair. Recycle. And, whenever you can, borrow! 🌱
