Anyone over 18 is welcome to join.
You can browse the inventory online without creating an account. Once you’ve joined and paid your fees online, you’ll be able to easily reserve up to five items online for a loan period of two weeks (up to 90 days in advance), and can then collect them during specific opening hours at one of our branches. Items can be renewed for a further 2 weeks, if they haven’t been reserved by others.
Borrow from ANY of our branches but you must return items to the location where they were borrowed.
The Sydney Library of Things is subscription-based. You ONLY pay for your borrowing subscription, then all items are free to borrow! Join the branch nearest you (MAKE SURE TO SCROLL DOWN TO THE CLOSEST LOCATION). If there isn’t yet one, register an interest here.
Subscription fees help us cover the cost of maintaining the inventory, tools, insurance and building the collection.
Annual | $85 ($60 Concession)
Quarterly | $30
Accepted concession cards are DVA, DSP, Aged Pension, Centrelink – please bring your card to your first borrowing.
At the end of your loan period bring your borrowed items back in a clean and tidy condition to the library during opening hours. Returning on time provides a better experience for all members, and you’ll avoid potential late fees. Simple as that and now you’re ready to borrow again!
When joining, either online or in person you’ll be asked to read, sign, and adhere to the Library Subscription and Borrowing Terms and Conditions of The Sydney Library of Things Inc. You can read the T&Cs here.
You must also read and sign the Liability Waiver document either digitally online, or in person before borrowing from the library.
